For the engine bay to never have been cleaned and 202K miles...id say its not too dirty!

sorry it was dark outside...so it kinda sucks for the quality of the pic...its a 8.1 megapixle pic...so it was prolly me!

Looks like that filter is less weight and more room than the stock airbox. It would probably be good to get the filter extended closer to the front bumper and farther away from engine heat.

Yeah, I payed 40.00 for the whole thing and it took me 20 minutes to do. ill look into other filters...but im just gonna stick with this for now.

get some PVC pipe from home depot or something and spray paint it black and extend it a bit. might be ghetto but least it'll suck in cold air instead of hot.

It works fine. I can tell a performance gain. I dont think its close enough to the motor, to be super hot. My motor doesnt get any hotter or anything. It works fine. Its just a way to make it breath better. Not so much as for performance.

I was temped to do this but I keep hearing things about the oil on K&N filters gets on the MAF

Havent heard of that. I will try to take it off and see what oil is on there..

Planetsoarer.com has dyno sheets that prove that pod filters do not work as well as oem filter box..Your setup looks nice but in this case theres nothing that works better than original..

interesting but he said he did feel better throttle response though.

The thing about on the oil on the MAF is:
so times oil from the filter can get on MAF and cause it malfuction. It happened to my mom's explorer and she ended up getting a new MAF, it also happened on my friend tundra. It doesn't happen all the time, but there's a chance
