Default SC400 Hydraulic Fan problem

For some reason my hydraulic fan on my SC400 doesn't spin very fast. My Temp gauge starts moving past the mid point if the car is at idle for a few minutes. If I keep the car revved up past 2k RPM the temp will go back to normal. I checked the fluid on the fan and its fine. I noticed the problem today, but didn't have a chance to look at it any further than the fluid. I was wondering what causes these fans to fail. I'm new to the SC's so I wouldn't know and the search didn't help this time. Any help would be great.

Later!

I'd be curious to find the answer aswell. Hopefully someone with more experience will chime in soon. I ran into the same problem with a friends ES300 Hydrolic fan setup. I wasn't too keen on the hydrolic system to begin with so ended up upgrading to the electric fan system. There was a similar thread on Supraforums and people swear by them.

Ps... I have the pump and the whole fan setup if you're close enough

There's a pump with a solenoid on it (driven by the drive belt, the big pulley in the middle) the fan itself with a hydrualic motor of sorts, lots of lines and a fluid cooler. There's also a fan ECU that controls the solenoid on the pump. The solenoid is either on or off for either high or low speed.

Couldn't tell you what's wrong with it without see it.

Keep in mind that the pump is driven by the drive belt, and cannot be removed. It can be replaced with an LS400 fan bracket. I've heard different stories on running the pump without fluid.

I also have the entire hydro fan setup, if your interested. I have gone electric and I replaced the pump with an LS400 fan bracket.
