Is this a soarer r154, pics pics pics
Just got this transmission in today, however I am a bit concerned. This looks nothing like the other soarer r154 I have. It looks more like a supra r154 to me. Also, is there a reason the shifter is bent? The shifter in my other r154 is straight. Any help would be greatly apreciated...thanks guys!

Lot of dumb people here.
The soarer came with TWO models of transmissions from the early model years and the later model years. The later, having the external shifter. And the early have an internal shifter like the supra R154 but with the shifter goose necked like yours. Now, I do not know for SURE if that is indeed an Early model Soarer R154, but it could be.

^^ Though, the 4 USDM supra R154's ive seen all had straight shifters. Im not sure which years switched to a gooseneck, but I agree that the soarer early model R154 has much more of a goose neck than that.

isnt it that the bellhousing is the main issue/difference? i bet you could make a adapter plate kinda like the th400 use and may be able to use what you have. what your car a 5spd to begin with?

Here is an early soarer shifter for reference.
notice how drastic the bend is compared to the OP's r154, and that crack about dumb people is not really appreciated. Yea, its ok to correct people, but that was just uncalled for. I don't regard the issue at hand as "common knowledge".

Heres my too short extension, 2.5 extension of the shift LINKAGE. Do not confuse with the actual shifter itself. The linkage is inside the tail housing of transmission which i had somone extend it along with the shift linkage housing.
here is a later model soarer r154 with the straight shifter.
As for supra MKIII having straight shifters, I have not witnessed it myself nor heard of it. I'm still learning myself so if anyone can clarify with more than just hearsay then it would help me and everyone else.
