Default My car is staying too cold.

My car is a 1995 sc400. My car heated up to a normal temp. until i took it to lexus because my radiator litterlally blew up. I got it back and it stays on C. The highest its gone is 1 bar above C and winter is approching and the heater just blows cold. I like it because it keeps the heat down so the engine will hopefully last longer but I do like to push my car to its limits but I wont do it unless its warm like in the middle PLEASE HELP!

When your radiator blew up, did your car overheat at anytime?

"Keeping the heat down" won't necessarily make your engine last longer. When the temperature stays at the cold level, the ecu thinks the engine still needs to warm up so it adds more fuel and that is not a good thing. Has your gas mileage been pretty bad since the radiator was replaced? The engine will be most efficient at normal operating temperature.

My car does the same thing since the weather change...just give it more time to warm up to temperature from a cold start it'll be fine...but like they said running it so cold is bad for gas mileage especially for a car that already runs so rich

Okay, wow. Everything you are saying makes since. The car has been getting HORRIBLE gas milage. The car did not overheat when the radiator blew. I pulled over immediatly after I saw all of the smoke. Yeah I will check the thermo. and make sure its all good. I really appreciate it guys. Im glad I can poast my problem!...lol

all solutions so far seem possible. check the thermostat.

to reiterate the point: make sure the weep hole on the thermostat is at the 12 o'clock position. good luck with the fix
