Default how to get transmission bolts off?

i'm about to do a clutch setup very soon, etc..yesterday i got under my car and was figuring out how people reach for the top bolts on the transmission..it seems really tight up in that area..i know you don't have to take out the entire engine for this..do i reach from the top of the engine to access it??

i know this is stupid but i tried to take off the bolts on the differentials and man those thing are stuck on there...had to buy an complete Craftsman air compressor set just to try to take it out, got one out but the other 2 are still stuck..i think i need a stronger impact wrench...did anyone experience the same thing as me?

i did my diff after i blew it up. did it again when i welded it. and did it in two supras. all done by hand. no power tools. to do the clutch take off the trans mount and let the trans sag down a bit. this will give you more room to take the bolts out. otherwise yes, all you need is extension and swivel socket. the clutch in our cars is super easy. other then waiting for the flywheel to be resurfaced, it took me under 4 hours from the time i put the car on the rack to the time i drove home. very easy to do. good luck.

ok got my clutch today in the mail but MVP sent me the wrong one, i wanted the 4 puck but instead i got the 6 puck, i guess it'll be alright..finally i got everything off EXCEPT the little pilot bearing...danm it's so hard to get off. i rented the puller from Advance Auto Parts but still can't get it off...now i'm just waiting for the flywheel to be resurfaced and get that pilot bearing off..

i just pulled the trans and clutch out of a 6 speed supra. took about 45 min.

be glad they sent you a 6 puck and not a 4 puck. i hate 4 puck clutches, id MUCH rather have a twin disk if you need that kind of torque capacity from your clutch

ok today i just got the flywheel back from resurfacing, installed it and the clutch as well and i just said f*#k the pilot bearing i'll just used the original since it's still spins freely..but now my major problem is getting the transmission back on, i mean danm that thing is heavy...i tried putting it on a floor jack and all but it's still kinda hard moving it around since i'm working on dirt and rocks only, plus i'm doing this all by myself and it's raining outside. oh yeah and i also broke one end of the clip for the throwout bearing, will this be a major deal?..tips would be really nice...

the early w58 had different clip then later w58. when i got my exedy clutch it came with a new style clip so i just reused my old one when installing the clutch. worked just fine.

im pretty sure the NA mk4 supra used the new style clip throughout. not 100% sure though. good luck

thanks for the tips people...finally got it finish if it weren't for my dad helping me out today..clutch feels great btw..and for that clip thing, the reason i can't use my old one was b/c when i took it out it was already broken on one end, then the one that came w/ the clutch..i guess the new style, so i also broke that one but luckily advance auto parts saved me since toyota and lexus could not get one until thursday and guess what i got the clip for free too, actually i paid $43 total for the tob itself then just kept the clip and return the tob and got my money back w/o them even knowing a thing...
next time i do another clutch swap i'm just gonna take it to the shop

i know u've put it all together already but i had the same issue w/ the pilot bearing. here's a trick: pack the area behind the pilot bearing w/ grease and use a dowel and hammer it out though the hole. make sure to whittle down the dowel to the size of the hole, a bit tricky since it needs to be tight enough to not let the grease out but loose enough so bearing can be pushed though it. keep packing grease into it until it pops out.
