Default Need Help! What do i need for complete r154 swap

Just like to the title says, I recently purchased an r154 out of a older supra. I also just got a 1jz bellhousing. My question is, do i need a 1jz clutch, pressure plate and fly wheel or a 2jz. If anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated. Also, do i need a diffrent drive shaft or will my stock one fit?

Thanks

irecently finished my auto to r154 swap

you will need a 89 to 91 supra mkIII (7mgte) pressure plate now depending on your YEAR your r154 is from u will need either clutch from na mkIII supra or from mkIII turbo mine i had to use from na mkIII supra BECUASE THE OUTPUT SPLINE WAS LARGER on the na so be prepared

At a minimum, you will need:
- MK3 Turbo front driveshaft
- 1JZ Flywheel
- 7MGTE/1JZ Clutch Kit
- Shifter Housing extended

The last option leaves you with several options, none of which are walks in the park. But, for a 600wtq capable transmission, it is a small price to pay.

I have not heard about that na clutch disk issue. What year models need the na? I bought a gte pressure plate/ clutch disk. And the disk seems to fit the spline just fine.

For the OP, are you going auto to manual conversion? If so you'll need the parts corresponding to that conversion (pedals, mkiii slave, hard lines, etc.)

For your driveshaft question, it also matters if you are doing the auto to manual conversion. You must use the rear half from a 5spd sc300. and mate it to a front half from a 7mgte mk III supra. The rear half of the drive shaft from an auto sc300 is too short when mated to the 7mgte driveshaft.

Note this though: i bought a supposed Soarer driveshaft ( which i assume is a direct fit), and for some reason the input shaft doesn't fit into my r154. So I will be swapping input shafts and seeing if this is the right length. If the driveshaft that I have is indeed from a soarer then you can't use a soarer input shaft with a mkIII r154.

Also, my r154 is from a JDM MKIII which came with the 1jz.

I'm hoping this is true because it will save me a lot of time and money

Thank you guys. I had a stock w58 and it just does not hold the power that iam putting to the wheels. I have replaced two transmissions since i got the car in May. Will the whole front drive shaft be needed or just the front youlk?

Hey marek,
What is the sustained dyno'd realistic RWHP number that blew two w58's. How were you driving this thing?

My w58 has been solid for over a year, not exeeding 410 rwhp 395 wtq, though I don't hold it at those levels long.

The car is a t67 that dynoed 495 horse. I still need to get the car dynoed up here in chicago . The previous owner told me that he blew two w58 too so the power needs a stronger trans.

heres my source. Look near the end when somone used an auto drive shaft and it came up short about 2 cm. hmm well your link does have pics in it, and they do appear to have the same rear shafts. So if thats true then go for it. I have no hands on experience in this case so all I know is what I read.

I've read that thread before (I've followed it since it was first posted) but the conclusion they came to was that something in the auto drivetrain setup is a different length from the 5spd drivetrain. Does anyone who has completed an auto -> r154 swap have any input?
