Default warm up or not ?

im wondering which one of you guys warm up your cars and for how long or do you start driving it right after you turn on the ignition ? been wondering about this because ive heard from a couple of people and actually some mechanics that warming up the car is worse than starting cold. as for me, i warm up my car, dont know, i guess it just gives me more trust in a warm engine.

I used to be really big on letting it warm up for a good 3-5 min, now I do it for 30 sec-1 min. just to get the fluids flowing for a sec. My brother told me it's not good to let the car idle for a long time, but he's the only one I've heard that from until now. Unless the car's running a turbo or something, I wouldn't worry about warming it up too long.

i'm pretty sure that our cars initially idle around 1,500+rpm when you start them cold because they were engineered to...

though i don't wait until the idle comes all the way down to 500-750rpm (a/c off), i usually just warm mine up until it hits the "C" line on the temp gauge...

im a get up and go kinda guy (8am class FTW)

ive heard that of course its good to let it warm up a little bit, but wont necessarily damage the engine by getting up and going unless you have a lead foot

If its hellac cold outside I will let my car warm up for about 3-5 minutes. It may seem alittle long but I like to let the oil thin out.

I warm up (from stone cold) for about 1 minute or so (about 1000RPM) and drive slowly until the gearbox can shift into overdrive.

It's good to go as long as you have oil pressure, which happens as soon as you start the car. Warming up is for passenger comfort only, IMO.

Since winter for me is 60F. I usually let it sit for 10sec and go... When I am supercharged ill be sure to let it idle longer.

I used to let it warm up for 3-5 minutes but I read around and people say its just a waste of time/gas. Its mainly a comfort thing.

I give it 30-60 seconds and take it easy for a little.

heres what i do.. depending on the situation

if you turn on the car and let the fluid get warm and flow around the car for maybe a min n then drive.. i think its fine. just dont push the car over 3k till the temp needle moves up 2 bars or so.. whichll take u like 2-4 mins of driving time.

but i do think Turning on n go is bad.. i remember sitting at the CPP parking structure.. i see this dude walk in the car.. right after starting up his car hes he guns it out of the parking lot.. like... didnt even let the car idle for a second.. it was almost instant.

Yea I usually do this, but once or twice, I've had to go after like 30 seconds because i was late for school or work.

lol @ CPP parking (I see that all the time)

i always let it run for 30 seconds whether warm or cold, let the internals get lubricated and good temp. you dont have to, but i think its a key to having a long lasting engine.

when i cant afford to wait i wont go past 3500rpm till it warms up.
you can kinda hear the engine change hums in cold weather if you listen close enough.
