So my car is slammed and the tires decided to eat through the wiring during Thanksgiving. There are threads that say you can tuck the wire and that's what I did. What happened was, the part that couldn't be tucked got chewed through. My friend made a thread for me asking what gauge the wires are and I didn't get any useful information.

Learn from my experience and set aside a few hours and relocate the wire. It seems like a pretty easy job but there are a few things I learned that can make it a little easier.

What you will need are:
- 22 gauge wire
- 14 gauge wire
- 8 gauge wire
- heat shrink (get clear heat shrink if you can)
- blow dryer (heat gun to speed the process)
- 1 inch tubing
- wire stripper/scissors

1. Jack up the car, remove the tire, remove the fender liner and admire the work your tire did.



2. Cut your harness in half (I just cut the part where the wire was chewed through). If your harness is still complete, I suggest cutting it at the half way point. It makes the job easier. Also, you should number both ends of the harness to make your job easier.




This is where we're going to route the wire through.

3. Strip the ends of the wires with a wire stripper or scissors.


4. Bring the harness into the engine bay.


5. Heat shrink the wires together. Clear heat shrink makes the job easier. Try not to get your wires dirty.


6. Bunch all the wires together and put them in the tubing. Wrap them with JDM orange tape.


7. Admire your work and go ride an ostrich.

So, eh.......... you know that harness unplugs on the other side of the foot well - fire wall in the kick panel, right? Rather than cut every single wire to move it, you can ...... unplug it.

when i had my sc and was riding low the tire chewed the wires and shorted everything out and blew the main fuse. boy that was fun.

I like rabbits. They're quicker and smarter and know how much spare slack they can get by rerouting the harness from the kick panel plug and sparing themselves about a day of .......whatever that is up there

My cluster wouldn't turn off and the remote functions wouldn't work.

It was fun driving to my friends house too because it rained the day before.

The project didn't take too long and the harness is nice and safe from the elements. Even zombies.

True story. I get to my friends house (88 mile trip) and he's at the bank so I turn my car off. When he gets back to open the garage, the car won't start and we proceed to try to push the fat lard that is the SC into his garage. Car eventually starts with a little coaxing and I finally drive it in with the harness hanging down and all. You can't make this stuff up.

after. i was riding to low. i never got around to moving the harness then i sold the car 2 weeks later. New owner did the samething and blew the main fuse. so i had to go to his house and reroute the harness for him.

man i wonder where that car is now casue iheard he was trying to sell it awhle back.

Mine chewed through, and you could actually see the wires. I wrapped everything in electric tape and put it in a secret safe spot where water and tire could not touch.

wow, im glad my 20's dont tuck in front. Its close, but the plastic on the fenders keep them from tucking on heavy bumps and fast right turns.

I am going to be rolling the front fenders this spring tho, so im going to have to do something with all the wires.
