screeching when turning on?
When I start the sc300, the second that it turns over there is a screech, almost as if something is slipping... It only lasts about a second. Anyone have any idea on what it might be? Sorry for the vague description but thats all I can tell ya :\

I brought it to a local mechanic and he inspected the belt and said it was fine. He lubricated it because he said he couldn't remove it because of the automatic adjusting belt mechanism thingymabob and charged me 5 bucks. It still screeches when I turn it on. He says there is nothing wrong but I'm no idiot, a Lexus doesn't make bad sounds for no reason...

trust me ive owned 3 of these cars already, its the crank pulley. They usually separate with age.....and it will fall out and cause some havoc under there i give it a couple more days before it fall apart.

I spoke with a trusted friend of mine who has owned many sports cars including 1 sc300, he said that after time the belts stretch a bit and that's what is causing the screeching after a cold start. It also explains why the screeching is much softer after it has been running for a while + the mechanic said the belt looked fine, it makes sense to me that a belt in good condition but a little stretched would be hard to spot.
Bottom line, tomorrow I'm putting a new serpentine belt on it and hopefully that horrid noise will be gone!
