Default I need a new cat!

Hey guys,
This is my first real question I've asked on here. Just wanted to say nice board, I'm really digging the forums.

I need a new catalytic converter for my 93 SC300. I havent been able to locate any online. I was hoping you guys could point me to the right place to pick one up with a fair price.

Thanks!

(1) Where are you in Indiana? I am in Fort Wayne.

(2) I would PM Gazi (CL Member: Aliga). He has a number of junked SC's, one of which I am sure has a functional cat for your car. His prices are very fair.

(3) You might search the classifieds as well, although I don't recall seeing one on there recently.

Does Indiana require a cat? If not just throw in a pipe in its place. More than enough people have done that, me included, and there are no problems observed as of yet .

Sorry O.L.T., didn't see the forum distinction there.

I'm in Bloomington. Anybody make bolt in straight pipes for our cars? I'm gonna have a hard time finding an exhaust shop to do it for me.

I wouldn't recommend this, but you could gut it. That's what I did anyway

yeah, i'd prefer not to gut it....so nobody sells replacements? I figured I would be able to pick something up from Magnaflow or something.

You are not going to find a direct bolt-on replacement in the aftermarket. There is not enough aftermarket demand in the Lexus community. I would try and get a used one from Gazi that will be a direct swap.

don't buy a used cat with only half its life left. it might die on you real quick.
get an universal after market high-flow one, theyre only like 50 bucks.
any shop with a welder can put it on.

The problem is the cat is in part of the exhaust manifold itself, right under the "Y" part. So its a special piece, no universal will fit.

If you need one just to pass smog I would just purchase a low mileage one from Aliga.

your right, i never said it would just fit, a good shop would be able to be able to make it fit. all they need to do is cut and extend pipe 17410 with a 90 degree bend, right into a aftermarket cat, and connect to back of exhaust. no big deal

viva la search
