I have found a few local cars in the 1k-2k range that have high miles and good bodies so its going to be a low cost project I hope.... have about 6k to toss at it.

thanks.

Go for it dude there is nothing like that chevy sound barking down the street....Look up LS1tech.com if u have q's....Motor mounts will be a pain and mounting the tranny....Need to do some cutting to fit the shifter...

How did I miss this thread? Tommy's had/has some really fast cars and we talked about this idea on AIM before he joined the site. While it's not something I personally want to do I'm really excited to see just how fast this thing will go with the knowledge and resources that he and friends have.

That, and I want his CCW's for my car.

The LS1 is a far superior motor in terms of building a monster for a fraction of what it would cost to build the 1UZ-FE. I personally think it would be something to do if the 1UZ were shot and needed a replacement, but all in all I would just keep the 1UZ in and do some light mods to have a great daily with a bit of punch.

Not going to happen for anywhere near 6k. Even if you have your own machine shop and are fabbing everything yourself.

And a turbo too at that price? lol.

Takes more than $6k to put an LS1 into a C4 vette, which would be cake compared to this swap.

The LS1 is the perfect crate motor for any swap. I love seeing them in RX7s. Very reliable, relatively light, relatively inexpensive and TONS of aftermarket support.

I was talking with some friends about getting an older beater SC and dropping in an LS1 with a T56 Tremec to play around with. Imagine an LS7! WHOA!

Go for it man!!!! I'd love to see how this turns out, cuz I was thinking the same thing, LS1 vs a 2JZ-GTE swap for my SC. Talked to some C5, T/A and Camaro SS owners at a local car meet, and they were real gung ho about the idea too.

did you miss where I listed the pricing out?

alum 5.3 or even a 6.0L can be had for 500-800 all day long
TH350 with a converter and brake... 500
turbo kit (cheap ebay **** with a MP70mm) can be made for 1k or so
I have my CCWs with MTs on them
the rest of the money will be spent on fabbing up a motor plate and trans tunnel mods.

Im 98% sure it can be done for 6k

Yea dude Ls1 is pretty cheap. and you can make everything except a turbo on your own. I dont see why it cant be done for 6k

Yes, and I noticed that you left all the important/difficult parts out.

Your list makes it sound like you don't have any knowledge of what is required for an engine swap.

Well, when you're done, make sure to come back with the full list of parts and prices to educate the rest of us. An estimate of man-hours would be nice, too.

Hahah thats what I figured no one would attempt this swap with 0 knowledge I am assuming he can build mounts and everything on his own. Which can make it very possible yo do this build for 6k or under
