Ok so I am doing a little smoke show at the car wash and all of the sudden it felt like the car lost all power (LIKE A SMOKED CLUTCH) so I tow it home and swap the diff for a spare open stocker I had laying around.

I pulled the lsd unit apart and it looks like one of the roll pins in the bevel shaft came loose or something so now I need to locate just a stock auto torsin unit, Is this still avl from toyota and it should swap in to my open diff carrier correct? From my searches it looks to be the case. I really don't wan't to spend 1,000 on a used tt auto unit when I can rebuild my spare. If anyone has done this or has experience on this subject please chime in.

And yes I know it is rare to break a tt lsd, I really think it is a manufacture defect.

I put a TT Auto Torsen LSD unit into a stock SC300 differential for my car. It fit like a glove and runs like butter.

You can call Titan Motorsports. They sell the LSD units that they get in from Supra guys who have swapped for TRD Clutch-type units. Most are decently low mileage. I think their going rate is ~$250. They may not have one in right now, but they probably will in a couple weeks if you give them time.

If you have an extra differential, and you are comfortable rebuilding one, I would not think twice.

ps. in the right/wrong circumstances, the torsen units have been known to blow. I have seen some videos of MKIII guys roasting them all the way down the drag strip. But, the MKIV Auto TT Torsen is definitely stout. There are dozens of Supra guys running 10s and 11s on the stock rear end.

Yeah, I will give them a call sometime. I am going to put my car up for the winter soon anyway. Rebuilding one is a cake walk so no worries there.

i was told my supra lsd wouldnt fit in my sc400 rear diff. but i see you did it. no modification?

Yeah no mods, It came from a 95 tt auto. 6spd won't work.
