Default Clutch pedal install

i have searched the forum and seen that several sc owners with mts have had the same problem i am faced with. my clutch pedal recently broke in the same spot that others have reported theirs giving out at. i bought the replacement from my local dealer, but am having trouble reinstalling. i origionally replaced the pedal thinking that i could reattach the spring after the pedal was in place, but once i got that far, i realized that the spring must go on first. so after i took the pedal off again, i put the spring in place and am now unable to attach the bolt that holds the pedal to the assembly. i went to my local parts store which rents tools to see if a spring compressor would help, but all i found were too large for this three inch long spring. if anyone out there has any information for the reinstall of the pedal, i would appreciate any help, as i am stuck! HELP! PLEASE!

I am doing an auto to 5spd and I came accross that same problem. valvespring compressors were the only things small enough to compress them in my experience. But even when I did compress it.. it got in the way of putting the spring on the pedal since it blocked it somewhat. I just used muscle and 2 friends to basically uhh.. convince it to set right. Sorry man but thats what I had to do. It was a pita to be sure, but it got the job done
