My Exhaust Story...
So My 93 300 SC developed a leak in the exhaust pipe just forward of the cat where there is a heat shield. I take it to Midas and the guy tells me how hard it will be to take the exhaust apart due to corrosion on all the screws and says I need to get a new pipe. He checked Toyota and quotes me $685.00 + labor . I smile and say take it off the rack. I go to a local muffler shop and he tells me he won't take the cat off. I never mentioned getting rid of the cat I just wanted to cut and replace the broken pipe ,app 1 1/2 ft worth. I can't but I will get a quote for a new pipe. $385.00 + labor.I asked him cant you just cut and weld a new peice on ? Aren't you a "Custom Shop?"He said no he could not . I just tell him to weld the hole $40.00. It lasted 5 days and so I try the 3rd shop . I tell him the problem and he says +100.00 and I will cut and replace app 1 1/2ft worth of pipe. KACHING $$$ We have a winner. He fixed it and now my Lex is nice and quite again. Moral of the story is becareful who does your work and do not wear your nice watch and Jewelry when you go to get repairs done. Sumo

i had the same problem, no one would help me, so i cut out the secondary cat and the midpipe, right after the first CAT and then a little after the secondary CAT, i took it to a shop and played stupid, "i dunno what happened, my friend said he could make my car go faster and then he cut out something underthere and said he didint know how to fix it. can you help me?" lol

"He should have charged you half that much" ....."Moral of the story is be careful who does your work and do not wear your nice watch and Jewelry when you go to get repairs done." I was just happy to get it fixed.
