It isn't going to help you. You are going to have to get under there and find the leak. The hoses are straight forward and go from the fill tank (and pump) to the rack. They cross over the front of the car at the level of the bottom of the radiator, in front of the rack and connect to the rack on the drivers side by bottom of the steering shaft.
Wipe everything down and start the car. Turn the steering wheel fully right to left a few times then turn the car OFF to pressurize the system (under less pressure when everything is flowing) and jump out to see where the leak is coming from. It is most likely the hose fitting leaking. This is where it almost always begins. It is crimped onto the hose itself and replacement is expensive. These are very high pressure hoses and have to be replaced with the same grade of hose. It's easy for that much pressure to push past an old crimp.

A used hose is as bad as yours is, the moment you go to install it the bending will likely put the cracks in the hose or the crimp needed to cause another leak. If he'll let you have it cheap enough, go for it, but otherwise hoses and belts are something you just can't buy used. All old rubber is the same. Dry, cracked, and going to fail.
