Ok here's my good deed for the day

1.5JZ is a 1JZ head and a 2jz bottom. You can use either the GE or the GTE short block. It's basically a stroker 1jzgte. The extra .5L will provide increased torque

Not a bad motor, A Japanese friend of mines is running one in his Wide body Soarer. Stock internals with a Greddy T-78-33D pushing an easy 500ps.

there are very few people who start this process who REALLY follow through with it and see it to the end.

There's a guy on SF in the MKIII section who built an insane 1.5JZ for his MKIII supra. He had a huge build up thread for it. (but since the search function is gone there you'll have a hell of a time finding it)

the advantage is having the displacement of a 2J motor with the head flow of a 1J motor. The only time I think this is a good idea is if you either: 1. somehow destroy your 2j head and get a 1j head or 2. somehow blow your 1j block and get a 2j block

The 2J head actually flows bigger, although the 1J head does flow better in a moderate hp application.

Ultimately, the 1.5JZ motor is a clever way to gain displacement when you blow the bottom end of your 1JZ. I don't know if anyone voluntarily puts the 1.5JZ together from the go.

If you want the big power (500+ whp), go 2JZ. If you want a JDM-only engine that can take a beating, go with the 1JZ.

Honestly, BoostedNY, stop wasting the time of the people on this forum and:
(1) Search more on this forum and Supraforums
(2) Make a firm, realictic goal and take strides toward that

Your one-a-month posts dealing with open-ended, general questions about performance engines is getting old. Make a goal (400whp, 12s 1/4-mile, beat my friends Talon TSi), and then your research can be more guided.

I looked into this a long time ago, they said with the stock ceramic 1JZ twins, a 3L block will have you at full spool by 1800 RPM.

And also that the ceramic turbos will last about 1500 miles doing that.

Ok, I'm going to reiterate what was already said here.

There is nothing "considered" a 1.5jz. The 1.5JZ is what people refer to after mating the head of a 1J to the block of the 2J. It is not MAINLY used in Japan....there are quite a few examples of them here is the US and around the world.
Again, it is not a factory motor. It is not an actual motor designation. In essence, it is a slang term to describe the "melding" of two different engines.
