Default Stock mufflers

Has anyone tried to hollow out the stock mufflers by chance? I searched this topic and came up dry?

Y bother? Just go buy some pepboys or autozone Cherry Bomb mufflers and you'll get the same result.

Why? The car will sound like an outboard engine on a motorboat!

Have you done it before?

This would be the same concept as bolting on a straight through magnaflow, but much cheaper?

No. A "straight thru" Magnaflow still contains baffles for noise canceling. Hollowing out a muffler that is not designed to be used in that manner is just plain cheesy and will be the equivilant of every wanna-be racer boy you see in a Civic with a Fart pipe.

Wow... the reason why you got nothing when you searched this topic is because it may be one of the most retarded things in the world to do to our cars. Just go buy some mufflers.

If you want your car to be louder with stock mufflers then just remove the two resonators and the third cat.... that will sound a lot better than hollowing out the mufflers

I never once indicated that there was a "want" to do this? I was simply curious if anyone had ever done it. Jumping on me for simply asking was pretty childish.

I do have a straight through magnaflow muffler sitting in the garage, there is a perforated center pipe that goes straight down the middle of the muffler, then fiberglass packing surrounds it? This same design is found in your typical "ricer muffler".

Again, ALL I wanted to know is if anyone had ever done it.

Well Chris the fact that you even asked that question showed interest to some extent on that idea. When people saw that you "HAD" interest with doing something like that, they quickly fought back against that idea. they weren't attacking you, but the idea itself .

so fellas, removing the resonators and the 3rd cat will make it louder, but will it have any power advantages to it?

removing the third cat has advantages, but not the resonators, besides making the car louder.
