extent of custom work?
wiring directly from the battery?
cfm advantage over stock?
compatible with the SC400?

stick with the stock fan and shroud, will offer superior cooling over the electrics.

Yeah, the Flex-A-Lite fans are great. My brother just had them installed on his 2nd gen Gs about 3 weeks ago. I really love their slim profile

i will say this, with the mechanical fan the car's cooling is more stable where as with the electrics the temp goes up and down as the fan's cycle on and off, however when on the freeway air flowing through the radiator keeps the temps down so the fans don't turn on as much. once the fans turn on the temp drops quickly, so i dont see either as superior. one plus of the electrics maybe the fact that you can wire them up to turn on with the a/c so if you are sitting in traffic u may see lower a/c temps.

dunno cfm's over stock but these flow 2500 cfm, should be compatible with the 400, i know the shroud mounts are diffrent on the 400 and i have not taken a close look at the hydro fan setup so i don't know what needs to be removed/bypassed ect... wiring is simple you get real good directions. its a simple wiring setup you have a wire to the batt, an ign switched wire and a ground, there are two extra inputs for a manual switch and an a/c hookup. the kit has universal mounts 2 kinds one uses nylon screws that go through the radiator the other uses brackets and screws i used a combination of both because i dont trust the nylon screws. i used 2 brackets for the top and 2 nylon screws to basically hold the bottom in place

There is nothing better then the OEM fan and shroud.

CFM on OEM fans should be 3300 to 3400.
However, the mechanical fan robs HP because of the rotating mass.

Should leave the electric fans on all time instead of temp controlling them if you have big front mount IC blocking the radiator.

if i left the fans on all the time my watertemp would drop down too far, it doesn't take long for these fans to pull the watertemp down, i was actually suprised. i do have a fairly large fmic but it doesn't seem to affect cooling performance too much right now
