Default Need some help with starter in SC400 ...

OK so i read all the threads about how this job sucks monkey nuts and i decided since I didnt have the money but I had the time I would attempt to replace the starter and do a bunch of general maintenance stuff to get my SC4 in tip top shape.

However, I have ran into wall I have removed the throttle body (see this diagram http://www.lextreme.com/starter.html) but i can not seem to get to the rear of the engine to see whats goin on back there.

Anyone have any tips or advice on how to do this job? I am too far in it to quit now. Any response is appreciate
Thanks

I would seriously pull the motor and trans together before I removed the intake mani-- just a thought--

No $200 gasket set to buy that way--

Nevermind, I think the manifold gaskets are only $50 or so-- it's worth just pulling the manifold off--

You need to pull both halves off to get to the starter--

You could also try disconnecting all the motor mounts (including the trans mount) and driveshaft/shift linkage-- and sliding hte motor forward an inch or two- That may not be needed after removing the manifold completely though--

If my starter ever dies, I'm selling the car to the first person that comes and tows it.

Its not that bad really. I just replaced my starter, alternator and p/s pump all at once. Once you take out the egr (just 2 bolts) bend it back but be careful not to break it off. Invest in one of those flexible racheting box wrench. You'll need a 14mm to take the 2 starter bolts out.
