Just got my SC3...it wont start.
So I just got my SC300 delivered this morning and I must say, It looks great. Better than what I expected. The guy got it off the truck, and handed me the keys, but then, when I try to start it, it won't even turn on or anything! I'm a noob to this theft deterrent system and I read and reread the manual for about 30 mins trying to figure out how to start it. I know nothing is wrong with it since the guy drove it off the truck and into my garage but WTF do I do?? sorry...

I know nothing of a theft deterrent system with special starting procedures for our cars.
Is the car fully in Park? Or, is the clutch fully depressed when starting?

Yeah, the car is in park, and since it's auto, I don't have to hold the clutch. I also noticed that none of the buttons on the keys work and that nothing comes on, not the radio, airconditioner, the horn, and no beeping sounds when you insert the key.

It might be the battery but I doubt it unless the guy used up the rest of the juice prior to handing me the keys. Good thing it's parked next to my Celica for some easy jumping. I guess I'll try that.

Heh, Celica. Thats' what I drove prior to getting the SC400. Went from a 2001 Celica to a 98 SC. Zero regrets.

Wow, it ended up being the battery after all but whats bothering me is that the dash wasn't working. The tach stayed at 0 the whole time I was driving. Is that a common problem? I got a little too excited and took a turn kinda fast. But man I felt a difference. RWD rocks. I just have to remember this thing is a tank compared to my Celi and I actually have to slow down A LOT while turning.

One former Celica (GT-S) driver to another. EASY ON THE GAS at least until you get used to it.
The car handles very well, but takes some getting used to, going from an underpowered FWD. On corner starts, go light on the gas. With a Cel you could simply floor it at all times, which is how I used to (have to) drive.
No more need to floor it through intersections as well. These cars have the pickup and low end the Celi's didnt have.
you can do corners pretty fast, I do them almost the same speed now that I once achieved in the Celi. Just let off the gas, hit the corner a little wider, then juice and go. Practice and be safe.
I bought my 400 in VA, and had a 600 mile trip to get it home. Along the way I nearly killed myself several times because the power/weight difference required a completely new driving technique that I was just not used to.

Now see if the battery will hold a charge. Charge it up, and take it to the parts store. Have them test the battery and alternator.
Time for either a new cluster. Or, if you know someone who studied electronics, it can probably be fixed. I forget, but I think its a resistor or something, that burns out.
