Default Cooling fan romoval

I would like to get the dual electric fans (from Summit probably) for my car, but how do you go about removing the stock cooling fan? Is this mod worth the effort? I heard you gain 10-20hp

I'm talking about the large white fan that is in front of the motor. Has a large black shroud on it and it it belt driven by the otor. The ones I want are electric. But how do you remove the white large fan?

yea thats what im talking about..

just take off your radiator.. sicne ur fan is connected to the radiator..
then when ur radiator is off.. u take ur fan off..
if that makes sense?

BUT if ur just talking about taking the FAN off the black shroud.. good luck on that one.. i dont think it should be hard.. but ive never tried it..

I've changed out my radiator and I don't remember the fan coming off with the shroud. I'm pretty sure he's talking about the fan attached to the water pump.

Sorry I don't have a pic, but looking under the hood, you have your core support, then your radiator, then a large black shroud that covers a 1 1/2 foot wide fan that spins when the car is running. It is attached to the motor itself. It is in front of all the pulleys, in between the radiator. What I'm talking about is you can purchase DUAL electric fans like Flex-a-lite to replace this huge fan and gain some horsepower from the pulleys not needing to turn said fan, which I can't figure out how to remove....Sorry for not having a pic.

Yeah the sc3 fan is attached with 4 nuts to the water pump... the shroud comes off with the radiatior, but the fan must be removed separately. Its possible to remove the shroud without removing the radiator, but it would be much easier to remove the radiator, and then you can do a coolant flush while you're there.

I'm installing a single 12" electronic fan now to replace the stock fan. The amount of air it gives off is far more than the stock fan, so a dual fan would work excellent...

In the real world I doubt you'd see those numbers.

there is no need to remove either the radiator or the fan shroud to remove the fan. There is 4 nuts you take off and thats it, removing the fan shroud will make it easier.

It's not a HP thing. Removing the factory fan and installing dual electric frees up a lot of space and weight to put in a turbo or other junk.

In my 400, the fan is hydrolic and takes up quite a bit of room.

its 4 i think 10 or 12mm nuts that hold the fan to the pully.

first remove the radiator shroud

then get ur hand in there and rempove the 4 nuts that is hold the fan to the pully
