Default 97 SC300 with 1JZ

Guys,

I am just planning for the future so bear with me. My 97 SC300 auto has 182k on it. Although it is running well for the mileage, I need to start looking at options when the motor does die on me.

I have tried searching but came up with limited information for swapping into a 97, as opposed to pre 96 OBDI's.

I would go single with a 1JZ. What problems would I run into with it being a 97 over a pre 96?

Thanks,
Jonny

Get the Supra TT shortblock for 2000 dollars and have a brand new motor that makes more power. It will cost you less than doing a swap.

You replace the shortblock in your stock motor with brand new 2JZ-GTE short block. It should be a direct bolt on. You get a single turbo kit and you're done! Much easier and cheaper than engine swap.

That is not what I did, but that is something I would do if I was going to do it again. You end up with practically a new motor. A user motor is like a cat in a bag. You don't know what you're getting.
