Default 1JZ 5 speed swap question. My current car is a 5 speed...please read

I have 2 sc300s. One is going to be a 1JZ 5 speed and the other is a 2jz 6 speed.
I am doing the 1J first and the car it is going in is a 1992 5 speed unit. I was told the imported W58 trannyds are not the same as the us standard equipment 5 spee din the car now. Is this true?
Is it simply a R154 tranny?
Also i found the 1JZ engine, 5 speed tranny, uncut harness, ignitor, and all the accys on it for $1900 locally. Sound good?
Please dont bash me and say use the search button. I have done so and did find some information but the more info the better.
Thanks guys!
Glad to be here!

If you're getting a soarer 5 speed clip it will come with the R154. That price sounds good.

#1 make sure the R154 you're getting is from a soarer, not a supra

#2 be prepared to purchase a push/pull type adaptor kit for like $600 (this is needed when using just about any aftermarket clutch for the tranny)

I'm considering a new plan to keep these threads in the engine forum since people tend to not use it and mods have to move them.

Stay tuned!

MOVED.
