Default Tranny help urgent.

Hey guys, i have a 1992 sc400. Im just a highschool kid and i dont have too much money. My dad yelled at me, he doesnt know whats wrong. I was driving my baby soarer and i was stupid enough to try a neutral drop. If you dont know what this is, its when you rev while in neutral, then drop the gear in D. Neautral Drop on an auto... wow bad *** idea. My car still runs but doesnt have as much power as before. I think its the Tranny. I live in las vegas nevada, and i need help on the cheapest and best place to fix my tranny. Also i was just wondering, can an auto tranny be fixed? or does it have to be replaced. Oh god, i just blew my tranny pretty much. It drives up to fourth gear but the power in the lower rpms totaly suck. When im cruising 20 mph then floor it, the engine just simply revs until something catches on then it shifts gear. Tell me, is there a problem with the tranny? Timing belt? I know it has something to do with the tranny though. And when i idle, at 8000-1000 rpm, the whole car kinda jiggles. Please soarer fam. Help a newcomer out.

Not to be the bearer of bad news, but it sounds like you will need a total rebuild on the transmission (not cheap, over 1000 dollars, maybe over 2000 depending on where you get it done). You could look into a used transmission with low miles and possibly save some money. Try some online scrap yards. If mine ever goes, I'll probably take that route. I have 216000 miles on mine, and it does shift kind of harshly into 3rd gear, but it still drives nicely. The key is to not abuse the car. If you want tire squeeling performance, you need to do it with a higher stall torque converter, not with the neutral-drive technique. You might have the torque converter looked at too. It may be fried. The factory torque converters aren't designed to "catch" the rear tires. They are designed for smooth shifting and fairly low end torque.

Neutral drop a SC??????? That's what rentals are for. It is probably cheaper at this point for you to just get a used tranny and replace it. While youre at it, get a aftermarket TC and have that installed at the same time to reign in that urge to neutral drop her again.

Book time on R&R transmission is 5 hours of labor (shop rate in most of Vegas at independent shops is 70-80 / hour), we charge $74 ($370 for 5 hours labor), plus miscellaneous (fluid, etc)...

If you were to get that trans from Aliga (or any other reputable trans), I could work out a deal to install it on the side for ya...
