Gearing differential change SC400?
I have searched and searched to find a matching differential gearing change for my Supra tt lsd differential and or my Lexus SC400 diff......What I have have recently found is the (R200) differential gearing off of the 300zx TT Nissans are compatible and interchangeable..Has anyone on this forum heard of this? Very promising for faster times....Someone had dropped a full second in quarter mile with this gearing change as reported coming from Australia...
Can anyone shed any further light on this subject? I've been looking for info on this for years, and findly found something that looks promising....I would think many have not heard of this....

Gearing ratio change, for quicker speeds and faster shifts.....I am reading the Nissan R200 gearing is interchangeable with the SC's and does just that...Like I said someone in Australia reported the gearing change and picked up 1 second in the quarter..0-60mph times were increased too......Just seeing if anyone knows anything about this....

i went with a kaaz 2way inside of the diff housing with final drive for an auto 92 sc300 inside of my 97 sc400

I would assume he wants to keep LSD, the 4.27 SC diff doesn't have LSD. I have never heard of the 300z diffs being interchangable, seems like that would not be the case. Aftermarket is the only way to keep LSD and get a higher gear ratio as far as I know.

He just wants a lower gear ratio--
A 4.27 would give you some crazy improvements with an automatic-- and better in-town gas mileage.... If you were somehow able to keep your foot off the gas pedal after the new found power--
If most of your driving is stop and go in the city it will be better on your wallet.... AND a LOT quicker-

I am reading the gearing change might not be such a good idea on a very torquey motor like mine. The gearing changes would be most beneficial on less torquey motors that are running on the stock torque converters or maybe even the SC300's...(I am now sporting a little over 400 ft pounds of torque) The change would cause too much traction problems in first and second gears...I pretty much have that problem now...I am still looking into the Nissan (R200) gearing ratio's and what the change will do...I will report back...
Oh, and yes I want to keep my torsen LSD intact...

You can control the wheelspin with throttle, but once you're in the top of 2nd and up you'll notice a difference where it starts loading up--
For drag-- it's the way to go- it'll be quicker in the upper gears, as well as the lower gears with better tires--

uhhhhhh i had it with a kaaz 2 way in my 97 sc400 with headers, intake, straight pipe, i had no issues with traction. btw not a kaaz fan anymore right now i'm all about ats or cusco

Yeah, but if the engine rev's faster due to the new differential gearing change won't the tranny shift faster in between gears..with that you may lose some speed with the more frequent changing of the transmission gears, right? See what I am saying....?? Also if you go too aggressive with the gearing change you could find yourself almost redlining while driving on the freeway...
Those would be my two biggest concerns....Well a few other concerns that I now would happen is first off the speedo would be way off on the cluster...and also when driving at normal freeway speeds your fuel economy would also suffer...
