intercooler help
well, finally got the intercooler on my 300. so far it's the first thing done after the 1j swap. first off, after getting all the piping and bumper back on, the intercooler hangs down a good 3-4" below the bumper so the plastic shroud cant fit back on under the car. also, behind the fender wells, i was not able to fit the front plastic piece in becuase the piping goes back to far. the intercooler is fairly large though (26x12x3). i am going to take it to a muffler shop in the morning to see if they can do a little cutting and trimming to make it fit better. the car runs fine after everything was done, except that now when im inside the car and get on it a little bit, i can hear a constant "beeeeeep" sound. can't hear it outside the car though, any thoughts? just wondering if anyone may have and clue as to if i should just get an intercooler that is not as tall, or just tighten and trim. thanks.

3 inches below the bumper seems like alot to me. I would almost be dragging it on the ground if i had an IC that low.
Did you mount all the way back to the radiator support , or closer to the front bumper? Do you have any pics?

How high did you mount the intercooler?
I mounted mine flush with the top of the front support bar. It does hang down flush with the lower part of the radiator (32"x14"x3" IC), so it's a pretty good fit. It's just in line with everything else on the vehicle. I haven't had any issues with hitting speedbumps or anything, and mines pretty low already.
I don't think it's a big deal. if you can move it up though, might be an idea.

OK, there is something seriously out of wack with your FMIC install. Here is a picture of my 12 x 26 x 3 FMIC install and everything is neat and tidy. To the unknowing it is a radiator. There are no clearance issues with the lower engine under-shroud or anything else. The FMIC is slightly tilted forward and the top edge ducks under a part of the bumper support. Some minor bending and moving a/c lines was done.
I'm guessing with the FMIC being a leading lower edge you run a likelihood of will smashing your fmic into something, punching a hole in it, severely bending it or knock an ic pipe off.
imho, do-over...
