Default problem with gas gauge

well today i was driving.. did a little pull to like 100mph or something.. then my gas gauge started to drop. i didnt think anything of it untill it dropped all the way E almost.. i thought it might be my gauges cuz i have LED's in mine. so i pulled the cluster put the gas gauge to half. put it back together and turned the car on and watched it drop back down. i was getting pissed. so i pulled the carpet back in the trunk and pulled a fonz on the gas tank. watching from the rear window i watched my gauge go back up.. anyone have this problem. i hope it doesnt happen again

I'm assuming you beat your gas tank and everything was fine and dandy.

There's a float sensor in there.
