Default Hot Transmission

I have a 1992 SC300 with 152,000 miles and my tranny gets really hot after driving around awhile...i know its supposed to get hot but i can feel it through the center console...and my passengers feel it too...Is that normal?what can i do about this? Is my tranny working to hard and maybe its time to change it? Does anyone else have this issue?
