supposedly helps the engine ground a little better and such..

imo if all your grounds are in order and not rusted/craped out you should be fine. grounding can help things such as better spark, better electric current delivery, etc..

does it really do anything?

I use the one from Sun Automobile in my RX300, but before I made my own wires out Monster-Cable like wire...just had some extra $$$ and wanted to get the Sun.

How you connect it depends on how much wire. If you have an extra one for the positive terminal on the battery, connect that one to a bolt on the alternator.

Usually, the grounding wires are used on the negative terminal side connecting to a bolt on the transmission, a bolt on the car's body, throttle body and of course the engine block.

See page 5 of my homepage below as I have some pictures of how I set up mine that might give you some ideas.

For some, these things do zero. I find that the older the vehicle, the more good it does.

My experience, better throttle response and more consistent 60 foot times at my track (did a test with and without them once)

It was free, might as well use it. It can't hurt. I built my own with some old 1g power cable I had. Smoothed idle a little bit, fixed some minor flickers with cabin lights. Connect to engine block, TB, I also connected from the chassis ground beside the intake, by the igniter.
