Default SC400 Valve Cover Gasket R&R thread

Hi:

I've searched the archives and didn't see any definitive posts on R&R'ing the valve cover gaskets on the SC400. The workshop manual I have also wasn't much help. So I started this thread with the hope that we can capture all the procedures and tips for doing this job. I will be doing mine soon.

Anyone who has completed this job, please add your thoughts here.

My questions:
- do we simply remove everything on top of and including the valve covers to get to the gaskets?

- what "sealant" as specified by the workshop manuals do you use?

Thanks.
