Default Oh oh... always something

The other day I disengaged the Traction Control by pressing the button and the Check Engine light turned on at the same time the Traction Off light turned on. When I pressed the button again to to re engage the Traction, both lights stayed on and wont go off even if I turn off and restart the vehicle. While this all happened, the car ran fine so Im just hoping I blew a fuse or something. Anybody else experience this?

Thanks in advance for the posts... you guys have been very helpful

E

151k miles... and just serviced at Longo Lexus. Just wondering what that may have to do with the Traction Control light (could understand the Check Engine Light)?

You must press the Traction control button again and have the car run(driving) for at least 5-15 minutes. The traction control light should go off after a couple of minutes.

Is that a reset or something? Will the Check Engine light go off too or it this an isolated problem?

Just trying to avoid spending a $$ grand $$ at Lexus... Always seems to add up to about that much when I take it in.

bad cats throw off the O2 sensors....and the check engine light comes on. I ignored my check engine light for a year, because it come on and went off...so I thought it always does that. Now I have to replace my cats GOOD LUCK

the trac light usually comes on when the check engine light comes on, and i don't know why....... but my car had the same problem. once you get the sensor or cat replaced, it will both turn off. to save $ you can try to clean the sensors, and or mufflers (this is what my brother did, and it worked) increaseing the airflow helps i guess. hope you find a way!

Today I finally had the chance to try the above advise and it worked... What did this actually do? Was it a re-set or something????

No it's not a reset. It's how the traction control works. The drivetrain just needed time to convert back to normal driving. Engine light should be an isolated problem.
