Ever think of making "straight" pipes?
Just and idea, on my sc3 that I plan to run a 1jz later, what if I place a magnaflow single 2.5 in then exit dual 2.5 into two resonators then 2.5 straight pipes to shiny long tips to the back like the TRUST DD exhaust. How do you think it'll sound? The idea of dual exhaust is really really heavy unless you go w/ phoenix power and going single doesn't look right w/ two openings. Anyone else ever thought of this?
Magnaflow exhaust $90x1
Resonatorss $40x2
piping and tips $200
So roughly a $400 exhaust system that doesn't weigh a ton, looks like the TRUST DD and should sound pretty awesome.
Any feedback?

I think the piping and tips figure has labor factored in.
Very little bending is necessary for this type of setup and therefore, many shops can do this for relatively cheap.
I also agree that dual exhaust is the only way to go with the stock bumper.
EDIT: Question - Where do you put the single Magnaflow muffler before splitting into dual resonators?

I just used the stock resonators, and cut off my mufflers. Had them replaced with straight through manderal bent pipes and nice magnaflow polished SS tips. In my opinion its the best sounding exhaust I've heard on the SC3. It sounds alot like the G35, maybe a little louder. You don't hear it at all in 5th gear on the interstate or at idle really either. It only cost 200 dollars, and 2/3 of that was in the tips which are kinda expensive. Try unbolting your mufflers and see what it sounds like. I was surprised at how good it sounded.

A reminder to those reading this that there is a major difference in the sound of the n.a. 2jzge engine and the Supra 2jzgte twin turbo. The n.a. is always, repeat always, going to have a louder sound because twins always quiet down exhaust note. So if you are going turbo, keep that in mind when n/a owners chime in on exhaust sounds.
I have something very similar to what you describe and it is running on a 2jzgte swap. I am using aMagnaflow polished stainless steel-model # 14288; a 3" into twin 2-1/2 outs.
I have a RMM high flow cat d.p into the Magnaflow. The exhuast tips are Magnaflow 35143 chrome 45 degree slash cut. There are no cans hanging off the rear of my SC, it looks clean and stock to a cop; to the knowing SC owner something is up, but its not clear what.
Regarding the sound from my 2jzgte, it is subtle in a Ferarri sort of way, the twins really dampen sound, I strongly advice against adding two resonators, you do not need those. If I was to do this again, I would have purchased the shorter of the two Magnaflow mufflers, model 14221.
Also if you do this right, there are a number of bends that need to be made, all of mine were welds on S.S. piping, no bends. The pipes take a slightly different routes to get back to the rear bumper. I found this was not cheap to do.
btw, Stong SC is right, the Magnaflow goes in the center.
I'll post a pix when I'm back from travel in early August if there's an interest.
