as long as it's the ethelyne-glycol or however you spell it your probably fine.

manual also says it's better to use something more water based than a 50/50 i believe.
i am running pure distilled water + some cleaner right now, then i'm putting in water wetter, distilled, and reg coolant

My SC3 originally came with red. I changed to green after warranty. recently changed back to red. Did a complete flush prior to each change. Both the Toyota red and regular old green are both ethylene Glycol which is what the manual calls for. I don't know about mixing the two, but I wouldn't. Use distilled water to flush the system. (I flushed the system 5 times with distilled water, about 2 gallons each time. The water finally came out with no tinge of green on a white paper bowl)

You can do it your self with one of those kits, but then you have to get rid of the old coolant and some place to flush it all out, big mess.

Just take to a shop, spend the money and deal with no mess

BTW My car has the red coolant in it, and since the orig owner never did anything to the car, I assume that's how it came off the lot.

Distilled water can be bought at most grocery stores for less than $1 a gallon.

To manually flush the system, take off the radiator cap, undo the drain **** on the radiator. You can also undo the lower radiator hose. Let all the old coolant drain out. Reconnect everything and fill with distilled water. Run the car with hood closed and heater on HIGH and HOT (to clean out the heater core). Let it run until it reaches operating temp. Turn off. Repeat this several times until the drained water is clear. Make sure you clean out the plastic reservior container also.

On the final flush, close everything up. Add one gallon of the Toyota Red coolant. the manual states the capacity of the SC300 as 9qts. Just fill up the rest with distilled water. That will give you a 45-55 coolant-water ratio.
