Question SC300 Water pump rebuild?

Since my engine is at the machine shop and the water pump has never been changed (sc300 has ~99,000 mileage), I think it's a good opportunity to change/service the water pump. How does one "rebuild" the water pump? Is it a bad idea to rebuild one? What about giving my water pump core to Napa and getting a "remanufactured" water pump for less cost of a new water pump? Lastly, what brands of water pumps do you recommend besides OEM water pumps? I'm looking for the best bang/buck route, so I don't want to pay more if I don't need to. Thanks in advance.
