Default best 1jz source?

Ok, I know that this topic has been beaten to death, and yes, I have searched, but I was wondering what everyone's consensus was on which is the best engine importer. There are tons of these motors that I see on ebay from 650-900, which is about what I want to spend. If I could get the motor for less than 1200 shipped I would be happy. Everyone talks about how plentiful cheap 1jzs are, but the only place I have really seen them is eBay, which I am weary of. A local place here in Dallas wants 2300!! Any input is appreciated.

I've heard www.venus-auto.com and jhot imports are good and care about their customer satisfaction. Welcome to Dallas shops, the city where 99.9% love to rip you off . If you ever choose to go the NA-T route, I'm in Dallas and can help you piece together a cheap solution.

well, i just recently bought my 1JZ front clip from a private seller, but the company he bought it from was JARCO INC (jarcoinc.com). not sure what their clip prices are, but if you are interested in the swap, i would spend the extra money on the clip ..that way you will have everything you need. so far all i had to buy was a new motor mount. other than that, everything went perfect on my swap.

I found a place in abilene(about 3 hours west) that sells soarer clips for 1800, and they all start and run, which is appealing to me. how does that price sound?

$1,800 it sounds ok. if you find one with a soarer R154 5 speed manual transmission, I'd be willing to buy that from you or go to this Abilene shop with cash in hand to purchase my part of the clip on the spot. pm me if interested .

I would keep the R154 it's a better tranny plus you won't have to deal with taking it apart only thing I would do is check the condition of the clutch on the r154.

jhot has never had a R154 soarer motor set or clip forsale. They had a 5 speed motor once with no tranny and a soarer motorset with a W58.. I know this because they have me on speed dial just in case the R154 soarer does show up.. Great guys though and I would highly recommend them.. If anyone buys something from them and wants me to go take a look before they pay just shoot me a PM. Im only 10 minutes away from them and stop by about 3 or 4 times a month.

ok I have found a place that will sell me a soarer clip for 1600 out the door if I pick it up. only thing it is missing is an IC and piping. how hard is that to come by?(assuming I want to run the stock side mount)

I have a Toyota supra TT SMIC which is more or less the same design as the toyota soarer SMIC. I also have some piping. my pm box is empty now btw.
