Default Power Steering???

my power steering is going out. At first it started to sqweek, but now it makes a lower hydraulic noise. Has anybody ever disconnected their power steering? How would you reconfigure the serpentine belt. i heard of someone removing the power steering on 4 cylinder and they got an addition 4 horsepower on the dyno. Has anyone done this, or would anyone have any ideas on how to accomplish this. Also my sc is a 92 300 and i want to cut out the center cat and put in a test pipe or straight pipe their. Has anyone done this on a '92 and what effects did it have in the computer?

I leave the wire disconnected to the rack and leave my car in highway mode. Stiff, but not too stiff. No effects on the ECU.

Check the vacuum lines going to that stupid thing on the pump. If those are cracked, leaky, or disconnected, your ps pump will whine like a drunk girl. Put some lucas powersteering stuff in. It made my pump go from as loud as Peters to almost dead quiet again.
