Default anyone know why 95 are faster than pre 95? sc400

the sc400's particularly.

1992 SC300 4-speed auto 7.2 sec 15.8 sec at 89 mph
1992 SC300 5-speed manual 6.8 sec 15.4 sec at 90 mph
1993 SC400 4-speed auto 6.9 sec 15.3 sec
1995 SC400 4-speed auto 6.7 sec 15.2 sec at 93 mph
1998 SC400 5-speed auto 6.3 sec 14.7 sec at 97 mph

and if i'm correct this is WITHOUT brake-torque launch?

(this was taken from intellexual net)

1995 sc400 has the same engine as pre 95's.

Can anyone explain? The HP and torque is the same i'm so confused

You might want to look at it more carefully before posting a thread...

1992 SC300 4-speed auto 7.2 sec 15.8 sec at 89 mph
contrasted with...

1995 SC400 4-speed auto 6.7 sec 15.2 sec at 93 mph

I was under the impression the 95's got the HP bump, was it the 96? Now this is confusing ME.

I thought I remembered it being:

-92,93,94 = 240hp

-95,96,97 = 260hp

- 98,99,00 = 290hp

1995 Lexus SC 300/400: Grilles, taillamps, and alloy wheels are new. The SC 300 adopted 16-inch tires, matching the SC 400. Both models got structural refinements to meet the stricter 1997 federal side-impact standards.

1996 Lexus SC 300/400: A new V8 engine went into the SC 400, borrowed from the latest LS 400 sedan. It produced 10 more horsepower (now 260) and 10 extra pound-feet of torque.

1997 Lexus SC 300/400: More aggressive-looking exterior trim and softer seats marked the '97 coupes. The passenger airbag moved to the top of the dashboard, and a trip computer was added.

That's from http://auto.consumerguide.com/auto/u...x.cfm/id/2272/

That's why i'm wondering why the 1995 is a little bit quicker than pre 95's

Well, that's not quite right. According to the original window sticker from my 1992 SC400 (yeah, I still have it) it has 250 HP .

Toyota has always reported 240, I am going by the manuf rating.

In reality I don't care Mine has 8 billion horsies. I added a K&N.

Does it really matter what quarter mile time you have in the 14's?

If you are really serious then .1-.7 seconds wouldn't make a difference as you would probably go for forced induction as that would make the biggest difference...

Well, I added a Club Lexus window decal and LexTech Lighting LED for my guages, that should count for something.
Here's what Lexus/Toyota put ON the car when it was delivered, I'm sure there are some pretty stringent requirements that the info on the window sticker has to be accurate.https://www.clublexus.com/gallery/sh...hp/photo/70325

I tried to post the pic from the gallery but it wouldn't load, so here's the link, you can see for yourself, right there in black and white, 250 HP.
