nice write-up. this is something that should be fixed right away, because when that platic clip is broken, the rod is able to sit in a wierd position, and it can get caught in the way of the power window. when i bought my previous sc that clip was broken on the passenger side and the rod was actually bent and broken from somebody putting the window down, not knowing the damage they were causing.
This was the case with mine, it only took one roll down of the window to bend the rod. If this happens to you, you will have to bend the rod back, there should not be alot of tension pulling the rod back out of the door handle.

I got mine at Elmhurst toyota, i know they take care of people on prices there. You are probably right on the inserting the snap connector first than putting the rod thru, sounds easier than how I did it at least.
+1 for Elmhurst. They have very good prices (better than my local dealership that i have an account with) and excellent customer service. They let me return something that i bought almost a year ago for my swap that i never used!!

actually i don't think that part is broke. the two points that look bent should prolly be made flat w/a hammer and some gentle love.
While removing my 240sx door handle i had the same bar pull out on me but all i did was set it back where it came from and thats how its supposed to be...Your plastic clip looks broke though.
i need to fix my plastic peice as well...thanks for the part number.
anyone got a Part # for the bar thingy above? mine is all bent up.
