if you are able to source an LSD in the Supra housing (~$1200), you are at the mercy of the gears. If you buy an LSD unit on its own (as is the thread of this topic), your speedo will not be off so long as you drop it into your same differential housing.

The n/a LSD is ~4.0 gearing. The TT Auto LSD is 3.76 gearing. For reference, the SC300 auto is 4.27, the SC400 is 3.92 until 98 when they went to 3.26 for the five speed auto, and the SC300 manual is 4.08.

If you switch from 4.27 to 3.76 gears, your speedo will read low. In other words, you are traveling 70 when your speedo says you are going ~62mph. It is a simple ratio to evaluate the error. Also, lower gearing means less whips off the line at the expense of the theoretical ability to reach a higher top speed (assuming you have the necessary speed cut controller and the power to get you to Mach 1).

Many American muscle car guys are all about gears. It is very common for Mustang and Camaro guys to tailor their performance by swapping out the gears for top end thrill or neck-snapping launches.

I believe the 6 spd TT LSD has 12 bolts around the circumference of the unit. The TT auto LSD have ten bolts, like our SCs.

That's good to know. Are you running a 2jz-gte with the factory 5 speed?

I'm using a stock 2jz-ge engine with the exception of a 2JZ-GTE headgasket and ARP headstuds. Here are the details:

Any SC rear end is compatible with the Supra TT Auto LSD. Any SC rear end is also compatible with the Supra n/a LSDs (both 5MT and 4AT).

The only Supra LSD that is not compatible with the SC rear ends is the TT 6MT LSD.

I have personally swapped a TT Auto LSD into an SC300 A/T rear end. I have a good friend on the forums who has done the same swap into an SC400 rear end.

Your knowledge about these cars astounds me Blizzy. Thanks for answering both my questions on both threads.

Okay, my stock diff blew, ordered TRD LSD (Auto) for my 5 sp. now trying to find the part number to 10 bolts that goes in the ring gear. Toyota Spec says not to re install original bolts. Does anyone know the stock number of specification of the 10 bolts?
