Default cleaning out power steering reservoir

I am going to flush out my whole power steering system and replace with new synthetic fluid, and was wondering if there was a way to clean out the reservoir before I start to possibly free up the screen a bit. The hole in the reservoir is so small I can't even see the screen so I'm assuming it's in the bottom of the tank. I was wondering if I could take it and off the car and train the contents and pour a diluted and somewhat safe degreaser in it and slosh around for a bit and clean it out? Would this be ok? I really can't afford a new one right now, but will replace it when I put in a new pump this summer.

Try using the "search field" above.

I've heard of people cleaning out their p/s systems but I can't recall what the exact procedure was, you'll have to search for the answer and read some threads. Good luck

Do you have an SC4? Make sure there are no leaks.

Ok.....why do people assume that the first thing a person didn't do is search? I did search and do know how to flush the system which I do plan to do, but didn't come up with anything on cleaing out the reservoir. I just wanted to know if anyone has done so and what might be good to soak it in to possibly free some gunk out of the screen. I'm not leaking anything from the reservoir and from what I can tell am not leaking anything from the pump...it is just now becoming a bit noisy so I know this summer I am going to want to replace it before it does start leaking. And sorry...it is an SC400.

yes you can. I just cleaned mine out a week ago.
I used 2 cans of brake cleaner. Try tapping the pollutants outs.
I also sprayed out any loose carbon deposits with an air compressor.
