I have thought about it and might do it when I upgrade the turbos. However making a solid one will cause a large amount of vibrations in the cabin - just like solid motor mounts.

bring this thread back up because i was having trouble looking for the transmission mount until i opened up my SC300 service manual and looked at transmission diagram.

Lexus/Toyota lists it as a Rear Engine Mount rather than a transmission mount which is what i was looking all over the place for. I felt like a complete dumbass going to several dealerships asking for this and they were all giving me WTF looks. Now i know what im looking for so i can finally go pick one up. Here's the link to Carson Toyota:

toyota and lexus actually list it as a "rear engine insulator"....f-ing retarded.

i just did mine along with all rear suspension. biggest mistake i have made so far to my car. my stock trans mount was undoubtably shot. i replaced it with a new shiny one from toyota, a na supra piece, 52 bucks with tax. well thns feel is horrible now. i thought that it would take some of the vibration away. my shifter vibrates more now and going into gear just feels weird. and the kicker is that i waited for a week for the mount to come in via special order from LA to chicago.

no more stock parts for me. im going polyurethane filler or solid welded mount. this "new" one is coming out and getting returned to the dealer.

This makes a big difference when you change the motor mounts also. Upgraded to trds a while back. Much better

I would also look at this post. https://www.clublexus.com/forums/per...-mounts-2.html

"12360-ja800 TRD engine mounts 93-96 list 128.00 cost 116.00 ea (toyota)
12315-46090 Bracket, List 92.05 Cost 69.18 (toyota)
12311-46090 Bracket, List 103.60 Cost 77.85 (toyota)
12371-46040 5spd Transmission mount was around 60.00 (lexus)"

I think I got the engine mounts from MVP and the transmission mount from Carson toyota.

Just wanted to say I had new tranny mount put on my SC400 yesterday. 163k miles on the original. The difference is like night and day. No more clunk going into reverse, and no more weird vibrations and noises on the highway. For $50 I should have done it a year ago. Had a couple of gear head friends throw it on for me, took less then 40 minutes.

All I can say is WOW!!!!! Just replaced fine on my '95 SC400 w/ 180k miles on it. I did have one hiccup during my install. While removing one of the bolts that hold the mount to the transmission, it snapped. I tried to drill the remaining part of the bolt, but no luck. I figure the mount will be secure with the other three bolts and the bracket that bolts to the car.

Anybody know the factory torque specs for the mount itself? Just ordered the part from Sewell I'm looking forward to changing it this weekend. I'm hoping it solves my "clunk" issue when shifting into Drive from a cold start. Fingers crossed.

Sorry for not being clear, it's a 1995 SC300 auto trans.

No worries, I just answered this problem on another thread. If you are experiencing clunking sounds when shifting to R or D from a cold start, the only fix is replacing the rear upper control arm bushings. I went through this for a year and replaced the engine and tranny mounts as well, but the only thing that completely removed the sound was the RUCA bushings. It's a problem prone to '95-'96's.

Anyways, the nuts for the tranny mount should be torqued at 19 ft/lbs.
