Default Go outside and start your car, then................

Hold it at idle between 2000 and 2500 rpm's. be steady in that band and tell me if your engine shakes, you'll feel it.

At first I blamed the harmonic balancer, but I actually am convinced it is the motor mounts. I tried this on both my SC's, and two others and ALL of them did it.

The only one that did not had new motor mounts on it.

dude, I SOOO just did a search on this last night b/c I have been having this probably for a while
and I've finally gotten around to it... weird that you posted it now. It happens right at 2100 rpms in
drive but not when I'm revving in neutral.
Anyway, I took it by a shop just for a visual inspection yesterday and we put it up on a lift.
If you look at the front and rear end of the drive shaft, you'll notice rubber bushings at the joints.
The front one in mine had a pretty deep crack while the rear one is beginning to crack.
We checked the front engine mounts and they appeared to be in great condition.
The transmission mount was BEGINNING to form a crack.
I came back here and checked on CL and I read in this thread
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...ibration+shaft
that the bushing could be the problem
I also read in this thread
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...ibration+mount
that it could be the motor mount... so I don't know. I'm betting it's the fairly large crack in my bushing for my problem but let me know what YOU find out.

Ninja Edit: Ok... n/m... I just realized that we have different problems. I'm getting a weird vibrating sound.... not engine shaking. Sorry... but I'll keep this post up just in case someone else has the same problem.

How can your driveshaft be at fault if your car is not moving?

I promise it will do it at idle.

haha, true. I know livesc400 (brendan's bro) just replaced his engine mounts a little while ago, so you might want to pm him and check his before/after results.

I get the same vibration you are talking about also, but It seems to be all attributed to the same thing.

While I was looking to buy one I noticed that all the SC's did that. They seem to do it just in that RPM range. This is after checking out 6 different ones before I purchased my current one. It also does that strange vibration. Kinda weird, I think it may be engine mounts or the balancer. I dunno doesn't seem to effect the car at all.

Mine does it! I actually noticed it quite a few months ago and suspected the motor mounts. Looks like we now have some confirmation!

I believe he said that it happens in drive, but not in neutral... Which could put his driveshaft at fault. Although he didn't specify whether he was "stalling" the tranny or not.

Does this have to be done at cold start?

I tried it this morning after about 25 minutes of driving, once I remembered, and I was steady at 2200-2300 rpms with NO engine shaking, the car was just sitting and revving. I'll try it at cold start in a few hours when I leave from school, if I remember

I tried it and there was no shaking. My motor mounts are also only a year old.

I tried it this morning, and didn't feel anything between 2000 - 2500. Nice and smoooooooth. Although, at about 3100 I could feel the steering wheel start to vibrate just a tad. Past that, still nothin.
