Default Steering growls somtimes

OK, What gives? Some times my Power steering Growls really loud, but then the next time I get in it is quiet as new. Hot or cold doesnt seem to affect it, it is totally at random. I is not low on fluid, nor does it ever leak, anyone else had this problem? Ideas on what is wrong? 97sc400
Thanks,
Scott

If its more of a whinning sound and it comes from under your hood then its your Power Steering pump going out. You shouldn't drive on it too much because you can get metal shavings in your steering rack causing it to damage and leak.. Then your repairs jump from about $200 too over $1000 easy...

Might wanna get that one taken care of soon..

That is, if it's a whinning/grinding noise.
