Question slippin burnin driving

Ok, so what is the diagnosis guys? Today while driving, if I go through the gears fast or go WOT the revs go up but the car does not go faster, when the revs drop to 3-4k then she will fly forwards? When I tried to take off and fly through the gears, she kept kinda slipping and a burning oil smell was emited. I backed off and drove home fine as long as I didn't punch the gas...

Clutch or tranny? or something else?

Are you missing gears or can you "ONLY" go when it's under 3k rpm in any gear? I think it's new transmission time if you are missing gears. Make sure you check the trans fluid in the car, cos if it's burning some then you dont want it to get too low incase it causes more problems. other than that The only other thing is clutch, but if it slips it should slip on the early revs as well... And that only happens after alot of abuse....

Post shifts fine

No, my shifting is fine. It just when I punch it in any gear it revs 5-6K but doesn't take off like it used to untill the rpms drop some what. If I accelerate slowly it is fine.

Clutch out, RPMs rise without speed rising under heavy throttle --- worn clutch... If this is the case, the clutch will be slipping worse in the upper gears 3,4,5. Typically, the first time a worn clutch is noticed is under full throttle 5th gear on the highway. You'll also notice shifts becoming more lazy, with the clutch not wanting to bite right away.

The good news is that clutch repacement on this car is straightforward. With Lexus repair rates, I'd be tempted to have a transmission shop do the repairs, they may save you quite a bit. If no upgrades are planned, stick with the Lexus disc and pressure plate. They will keep your stock smooth shifting. A cheaper generic clutch can chatter if its not of good quality.

Post vitek? or what

Do you think I'd notice a difference with the Vitek stage4? I'll be doing more mods later. Or is stock a much better deal at 100 bucks?

Default clutch replacement

I just bought a clutch kit for my 92 sc300. the original clutch hung in there for 160000 miles. I am in NYC, Bronx, and was wondering where I should go about having it installed. I do not want to pay dealer labor rates. Any suggestions.

thank you
