Default Fan Clutch

Does a fan clutch make noise if it is going bad? I have a weird intermitten tick sound that is coming from one of the accessories. I've narrowed it down to the waterpump but it keeps the car nice and cool and I really don't want to dig that far in if I can help it. It only ticks when it's cold, rev it up, or if extra tension is placed on the belt, like the A/C kicking on. It doesn't do it all the time either so it's hard to track down. I plan on just taking it off and starting it to see if it goes away. Just wondering if anyone has any insight.

youre right...best idea would be just remove the fan clutch and leave that pulley on the water pump, and see if it makes the noise. i think when the fan clutch goes bad it just leaks out some of that fluid thats in it, and it wont grab anymore, that happened to my old car...it didnt pull enough air.
