Smile 1JZ-GTE Swap

Hello,

I am working on a project that swapping 2JZ-GE motor to 1JZ-GTE motor. I have a 93 sc300 5 speed (w58). Because of the age, my car naturally is getting beaten up. Spending almost same amount of $$ to over-hole my current engine, I decided to upgrade a motor. I am not seeking for a huge horse power on my car but I like to let my sc runs as a mild 2dr sports car. I will be happy running with 1JZ-GTE motor as stock w/o any modification. I am looking for a 1JZ-GTE motor comes with all components need to make a swap job done. I found a couple of 1JZ motor sold at eBay. These come with AT trans and ECU. My budget is around 2k for complete motor set. Another 1K for other misc. Is there any recommended seller on eBay to buy a motor? Are there any recommended auto shop sell 1JZ motors? I wonder how 1JZ swapped people get their 1JZ from. How difficult is AT covert to MT going to be? Have to have a MT ECU for my car, if motor comes with AT trans?

Also I would like to have any suggestion, homework I should do before I buy a motor, any risk I need to take on swapping a motor, recommendations, essential parts needed to have for swapping job, difficult part on swapping motor, I should be careful when I work on swapping...so forth. I will be much appreciated and helped any suggestions on my project from great people who done this job or knowledged, experienced on this forum.
(I am sorry that my broken English) Thank you.

First things first do a search.

Get a front clip, or at least get a motor set as complete as possible. Make sure it's from a Soarer.

Your w58 will bolt up to the 1jz.

*sigh* not to be a jerk, but please search. This topic has been talked to death and then some. The sticky on the top of the forum says to search.

I swear if I see another one of these threads, I am going to shoot myself.

Smile 1jz Tt

I wish I could test-drive someone's 1JZ swapped vehicle to know how much worth to gain about 100hp on stock car with est around 3 or 4K before I really work on this project. I like the design of SC. It looks more mature than a big brother supra. I bought mine 2 years ago. Mine got 135K miles now. Condition wise my car is neat. No leak from any engine components, no smoke, no funny noise, no body scratches, dent...almost of all parts are original except rims and tires. But I sincerely would like to know spending 3 or 4k to have +100hp worth for this car or not...I guess I have to re-think and do my homework more about this project for myself. I am living a country side...bunch of trucks are around me...People around here always talk about trucks...like unti-2dr car type of people...Anyway...Those video's from NA-t forum makes me very exciting to work on this project, though...Also the sound of Turbo...just beautiful and talk to my soul.

Default Trashing a good engine?

Another thing that bothers me is that if ur 2jz-gte is well maintained and in good condition, its hard to throw away a good motor and replace it with something unknown. In the case of other cars like the 240sx/Silvia, their KA24 motors with 150-200 miles are already beat up anyways and due for an overhaul soon anyways.
