Just bought a SC300 to na-t or not?
Hey guys. I am new to Lexus modding even though I have had 4 of them. I just recently sold my SP74 single turbo Supra MKIV and I am looking for something to either go crazy with as I did with it or get me by until I buy another. This SC300 will do one or the other for me. I am looking to those of you who know the SC300 to help me out.
I want to do one of three things:
1) Save some money over a eng. swap and go na-t with some cosmetic mods as well (wheels, body, etc.)
2) Wait a few months and go with a gte swap, 6spd, etc and take it up to where my supra was
3) Drive it stock dress it up a bit and sell it as I get closer to buying another Supra
I always had appreciation for the guys with the SC300's and forced induction (something unique in that set up). I am wondering how much power I can get out of going na-t while still maintaining reliability. I have heard that I can drop in 440's with out any problem and with a headgasket or supra head push into the low 400 hp range. Of course I would have to upgrade the clutch, but will the tranny hold the power?
I don't want to take the cheap way out, but this is my first SC300 and I don't know if it will fill the void left by my Supra (I think it might) and I don't want to sink too much money into it just in case. I also don't want to do something that will kill the life span of the block and head for the next owner if I sell it.
Any advice would be appreciated. My wife says to sell it before I sink $20k into it and still buy a Supra, but I like the car and think it would be a nice compliment to the Supra's I still hang out with.

If you want more than 600rwhp TT swap is the way.
For look, just get 97+ SC updated look + a set of wheels, you have one amazingly good looking car.
