Burning Smell in Engine after 3-5min 80mph Drive
I'm getting this burning smell in my car after I do a 80-90mph cruise down the interstate for a few minutes. I also have taken several 3hr trips and it is always evident after those too crusing at 70-80. Its a lot worse than it used to be. I have a 92 SC300 5spd. It doesn't smell like clutch and I don't think I need a new one, nothings slipping on it.
I just replaced the serpentine belt along with the waterpump which was leaking. I thought it was my A/C Compressor and maybe the a/c comp. clutch going but I turned it off this latest time and I still had the smell. When I was changing my waterpump I moved all the pulleys and stuff and none seemed to have any resistance that would make it hard to turn at all. I'm at a loss as to what it is and I really have no idea what to change or look at.
Could something be dripping on my exhaust that makes this smell? I don't think so becuase the smell is coming from inside the engine, not underneath the car or anything. Any ideas?

Even if I have tha A/C disengaged wwould it be possible that the A/C Clutch is still burning up somehow in the compressor? I still get that smell really really badly when I cruise up to 90-100 and hold it for even 30sec.
I have a feeling this will be hard to figure out until something snaps in the engine!

No its like a belt burning type fo smell. Like cooked rubber but not like when you burnout with tires. I wish I could describe it better. I think it may be the A/C Alutch still I'm going to try to test it more by getting on the interstate without running my A./C the whole trip then hitting it and see if I smell it before or after...
