I'm planning on purchasing a used SC300. The car is a 92 with 135K miles. What are some common problems on these cars? anything that I should watch for?

Default some things

Some things to look for:

timing belt replacement. Should of had at least one done and it is about time to think of the second one. Was water pump done when timing belt was done?

Gauges on dash. Specifically the needles. These needles require the whole back assembly purchase for 450.00

The trim around the door windows crack on the bottom, and can be noticed by inspecting the material on the bottom. THese are expensive and can eventually brake through the fabric.

The driveshaft is connected via 2 large rubber joints. One at the front of the driveshaft, the other in the rear. These are around 150.00 and should be replaced if cracks appear.

Otherwise your basic car buying tips. Exterior. interior condition. The drivetrain on these cars are dead reliable if taken care of properly. Get records if possible. Just remember that some of those "small" items that a used car buyer would not think of as a big deal or expensive can be "EXPENSIVE" from Lexus.

Best of luck
