Default Hi, Everyone!

New and proud owner of 92 SC400. The color is sandstorm, gorgeous!

I want to do some tune-ups ASAP so I would really appreciate your help. I have searched the forum and found most of the stuff. Although I am not about the air filter. Can I order it from a Toyota dealer? How much is it and most importantly what's the part number? Don't want to get ripped off by Lexus dealer.

Also there is a very noticable tapping. It's more pronounced when idling and kind of fade out when rpm rises. Sounds like a valve tapping, or noisy injector, I don't know. Is it common on SCs? The owner manual said it needs to be checked every so often. Has anyone have the same tapping noise. Would a valve adjustment clear it?

Thanks.

Welcome man - we need pics!!! We like pics!!

The tapping could be your lifters also - may wanna check that out.

Just bring your car to the Toyota dealer and they will hook you up with the air filter - I don't know the part number off hand.

Anyway, welcome and enjoy your stay.

Peace,
Jonny

get a k&n, it'll be the best $50 you ever spend. it may be more at first, but its the last one you'll ever buy. the k&n's flow almost twice as much air as the stock filters, and come with a million mile warranty. you never have to change filters again, u just wash it out, spray the special oil on it, and pop it back in. my family has them in all 4 of our cars. a chevy suburban, honda crv, lexus sc400, and a turbocharged honda civic.

more air = engine breathes easier = more performance + better gas mileage. its a proven fact.
